Do I need an evaluation?

Professional evaluations are a necessary step for obtaining a DSM-IV diagnosis, often required to secure reimbursement for health or educational services, and a critical component of effective treatment.  Evaluations can also be beneficial in determining an individual’s strengths and weaknesses, providing comprehensive recommendations for promoting success, and monitoring treatment effectiveness and progress.

Some concerns that can be addressed by a professional evaluation:

  • Problematic Behaviors
  • Speech & Language Delays
  • Emotional Concerns
  • Learning Difficulties
  • Attention, Hyperactivity, and Impulsivity
  • Social Difficulties
  • Memory Problems

What Types of Evaluations are Offered?

Neuropsychological Evaluation

A neuropsychological evaluation includes a profile of an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral strengths and weaknesses, as well as diagnoses as warranted, and comprehensive recommendations for remediation and progress. Emerge, P.C. clinicians strive to make evaluations a positive experience for parents, adults, and children and work to meet the needs of the individual and family.

Multidisciplinary Evaluation

Emerge P.C.’s multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive assessments encompassing the areas of speech and language, sensory motor development, neuropsychology, and behavioral and emotional development.  Assessments are designed to help understand the nature of an individual’s difficulties and strengths and provide diagnoses as warranted.  Extensive recommendations for remediation of symptoms are provided through a written report.  Emerge, P.C. clinicians work with the individual and family to create a positive and helpful experience.

Speech-Language Evaluations

Occupational Therapy Evaluations

Occupational Therapy evaluations provide a comprehensive assessment of each individual’s current level of self-care, play, sensory processing, gross and fine motor skills, and self-help, as well as recommending techniques and strategies to target skill deficits.
